Mediterranean Baked Feta Recipe
A few minutes in the oven transforms cold, crumbly feta into a luxurious spread that pairs perfectly with crusty bread or crackers. Serve it as an appetizer for your Mediterranean dinner, or add it to any cheese or charcuterie platter for a soft spreadable cheese.
This dish is great bang for your buck - ingredients are classic and easy to source, but the finished product is as becoming as any baked cheese dish.
There are a variety of toppings you can use for your baked feta, so play around with ingredients and add or subtract according to your taste. Comment your favorite combinations of toppings below!
You Will Need:
An oven proof dish at least 2 inches larger on each side than your block of feta
1 block of feta
1 red onion sliced into wedges
1 lemon sliced into wedges
1 cup of mixed olives
1 cup grape or cherry tomatoes cut in half
Fresh rosemary and oregano
Dressing - whisk together 1/4 cup of olive oil, zest of 1 lemon, 1 tbsp honey, 1 tsp sumac (substitute lemon juice or lemon pepper seasoning), 1 tsp Aleppo pepper (substitute crushed red pepper flakes or ancho chile powder), and salt and pepper to taste.
How To Make:
- Preheat your oven to 200C/400F and place the feta in the center of your oven proof dish.
- Arrange the onion wedges, lemon wedges, tomatoes, and herbs around the block of feta and drizzle with the dressing.
- Bake for about 15 minutes, or until the vegetables are soft, then add the fresh herbs and continue cooking for 5 more minutes.
- Serve with crusty bread or crackers.
